Havening Techniques®
Havening Techniques is a new, groundbreaking technique from neuroscience that can quickly, easily and effectively resolve a wide range of trauma, anxiety and stress-related symptoms and conditions.
The Havening technique was developed and scientifically researched over a period of 15 years by the American internist and neuroscientist Dr. Ronald Ruden.
Dr. Ruden investigated how traumatic memories are encoded in the brain and where exactly this happens.
From this point of view he worked out how the emotional charge that can cause various physical and psychological symptoms can be removed from the memory or the trauma (in scientific language: depotentiation or decoding of the amygdala). By touching certain areas on the body, the brain starts to generate delta waves. These delta waves affect the neurons in the amygdala, the emotional center in our brain. By remembering the traumatic or stressful event, you activate these neurons. When you do this while your brain is generating delta waves, a chemical reaction takes place that ‘dissolves’ the neuron’s emotional charge (the emotional charge being AMPA receptors on the neuron).
This research is seen as one of the most groundbreaking breakthroughs ever in psychology and neuroscience.
Havening Techniques is a psycho-sensory method, using relaxing touch on the arms, palms and face, combined with psychological distraction, enabling you to process profound trauma in a relatively easy way, where you do not have to go back into the pain of the trauma for very long.
The treatment itself is relaxing and calming, and gives immediate positive healing results: you are no longer triggered and disrupted by old (conscious or unconscious) memories and experiences.
This is a permanent change: the trauma or stressful event is no longer connected to the emotional center in the brain and becomes just a past experience, decoded from emotion. Three to four sessions are optimal to achieve the best results. You also learn to apply the technique to yourself. You can use this at home to calm down, for example before going to sleep or during stress, and to build resilience.
The result of the treatment: you are no longer triggered and disrupted by old (conscious or unconscious) memories and experiences.
Because Havening can also be done online, I also offer Zoom sessions.

The first session consists of an interview and an initial treatment, and lasts approximately one and a half to two hours. In the first meeting I explain what you can expect and what I expect from you. The following sessions last about an hour.
